A quick guide to finding books, ebooks, and textbooks at the CSUDH Library.
If you found an book in OneSearch, it may be available to read on one or more platforms.
Select one of the blue resources links (e.g. Ebook Central Perpetual and DDA Titles) to start reading the ebook online.
If the book is available to download and read offline, you may need to download another free program or app like Adobe Digital Edition and borrow the ebook for a limited amount of time.
If the book is not available for full download, you can read it online or download specific pages ranges and chapters.
You can also search for and browse ebooks in one of our individual ebook databases.
Course reserves are typically textbooks but also other materials that your professor sets aside at a desk in the library for the whole class to use. We keep library books, books from your professor, and some rented textbooks behind the desk and lend them out for no more than 2 hours so everyone in your class has the opportunity to use the same materials.
No, only some classes. But you can always search for the title of your textbook or the ISBN in OneSearch to see if it's available at Course Reserves or as a library ebook!
Change the drop menu on the library's homepage from OneSearch to Course Reserves (CSUDH):
You can search for course reserves by book title, professor name, or course details.
Check that it's available, then make a note of the call number (e.g. LA 212.G65 2014) or course reserve information (RAMSER / ENG 110 / NGUYEN) and ask for it at the Course Reserves Desk. Course reserves may also be available online to read as an ebook.
The Course Reserves Desk is on the main floor of the library near the main entrance.
