Dissertations & Theses

A dissertation or thesis is the final project a masters or Ph.D. student writes and defends in an oral presentation to an advisory board of faculty members at their institution as part of their degree. These projects usually present comprehensive literature reviews, new applications of theories, or original research findings on a specialized topic. All print theses by CSUDH students are located on the 4th floor of Library South.

When would I need to find a dissertation or thesis? If you're graduate student working toward your own thesis, look at other students' work from CSUDH or in your major to help you think about you should include and how to present your own work. Any dissertation or thesis on a related topic can help you trace the ongoing scholarly conversation. Look at their references and read their background information for new ideas!
