Alright, so you're interested in participating--that's great! How do you get started? There's no one-size fits all solution to AL$ but there are lots of ways to help your students that involve varying amounts of time and effort, such as:
Nowadays, open textbooks are available in most disiplines and allow you more flexibility to adapt, remix, and reeuse content and allow your students free access!
While not usually traditional textbooks, the Library has AL$ funding to purchase ebooks that have unlimited user access and can be made available to all students through the library's website. Read the requirements for this program.
See what options are available. Contact your bookstore rep to ask about the options they've negotiated though discount programs and inclusive access programs from various publishers.
Choose your textbook early, and let the bookstore know so that they can communicate that title to students - that gives students more options for finding affordable versions, such as buying used versions from other students or from online retailers.
Make sure the campus scheduler knows if you're course is using zero-cost materials. This makes it easier for students to locate and enroll in affordable courses.
