About the Library

Here you can find more about the library, its mission, its people, hours and events, policies, FAQs, and feedback to the library.

Social Media

All posts on the library's social media streams are intended to support the library’s mission by providing information related to the library’s services, spaces, technologies, or users. The library’s goals in actively participating in social media are to:

  • Reach out and engage CSUDH students, staff, and faculty.
  • Cultivate an open, professional, and responsive dialogue with our users.
  • Promote the value and importance of services offered by the faculty and staff of the CSUDH Library.
  • Showcase library events and campus happenings.
  • Promote research tips and useful tools for scholarship.

Friending/Following

The library’s social media presence is open for interaction with all members of the public. The library will accept links, followers, or “friends” from everyone except:

  • Users who have violated the site’s policies.
  • Users who post any inflammatory, offensive, or exploitative materials.
  • Unofficial CSUDH-identified sites (see list of official CSUDH channels).

The library will “follow back” any fans or followers who are:

  • Official CSUDH-identified sites
  • Library or academic related
  • Noncommercial in nature
  • Of possible interest to the CSUDH community

Guidelines

The library abides by the following guidelines:

  • The library does not collect, maintain, or otherwise use personal information stored on any third party site in any way other than to communicate with users on that site.
  • The library may contact you to seek permission to use your content in another forum, but it will never do so without explicit permission and credit.
  • Users may remove themselves at any time from the library's "friends" or "fan" lists.
  • Users should be aware that third party websites have their own privacy policies and should proceed accordingly.
  • The library reserves the right to remove any posts or comments. Reasons for removal include, but are not limited to: inappropriate language, solicitations or spam, or off-topic comments.
  • The library assumes no liability regarding any event or interaction created or posted by any participant in any library-sponsored social media service, and does not endorse content outside the "pages" created by library faculty or staff.

These guidelines govern only the official library social media sites and not the personal accounts of faculty or staff.

In addition to the disclaimers applied to all official CSU Dominguez Hills accounts, the library is not responsible or liable for content posted by subscribers in any forum, message board, or other social resource, and such subscriber comments do not necessarily reflect the opinions and/or positions of CSUDH, the library, or its employees.
